Twinkie, Deconstructed - Steve Ettlinger

This well-researched book goes into detail about how every ingredient in a Twinkie is made and mentions their other uses, including industrial ones. It may have been a little more information than I was looking for. Some chapters are more interesting than others. Overall, it's a very good book for people than are interested in food processing. By the way, the shelf life of a Twinkie is only 25 days, not forever and there really are a few natural ingredients in them.
