Water for Elephants - Sara Gruen

Jacob lost both parents just before his final exams at Cornell. Instead of taking his exams, he hopped on a train and joined the circus. He had an interesting life as a vet for the circus, fell in love, got married, and later ended up in an old folks home. it's not my usual kind of book but it was a pretty good story.
