A Voyage Long and Strange - Tony Horwitz

The Vikings (Newfoundland), the Spanish (Florida plus a large geographical area north and west crossing the Mississippi River), the French (Jacksonville, FL) and the English at Roanoke and Jamestown, all set foot in North America way before the Plymouth pilgrims in 1620. This is both a history book and a modern day travelogue. Interesting reading.
