Cold: Adventures in the World's Frozen Places - Bill Streever

This is a fun book to read. Streever, a biologist, chairs the North Slope Science Initiative's Science Technical Advisory Panel and lives in Alaska. He shares his vast knowledge of all things cold including animal habits, permafrost, weather, physics, and historical facts. There isn't a running narrative here; it wanders about. The complexity of the cold world keeps it interesting.
