The Forgotten Man - Amity Shlaes

Shlaes is a very conservative economist and her book reflects that. She mainly covers the negative aspects of the New Deal so it's best to read it coming in with a larger frame of reference. Her theory is that the New Deal actually made the Great Depression worse. The book is a real eye-opener. It's not an easy read because a lot of names are thrown at you, but it's worth it.
