The Terror - Dan Simmons

This is a long scary book about Captain Sir John Franklin's arctic expedition in search of the Northwest Passage. I think you would call this historical fiction. It has freezing, sick, and starving men, ships frozen in ice, murder, a stalking creepy unknown creature, Eskimo lore, and a crazy megalomaniac gay guy. I felt cold reading it! I may read another one of his books.
