The Hatchet - Gary Paulsen

Brian is a 13 year old boy who gets involved in a small plane crash over the Canadian wilderness. The pilot died of a heart attack, Brian ditches the plane in a lake, and he survives on his own for 54 days. It's a coming of age story geared toward middle schoolers but I enjoyed reading it. However, I found his flight instincts while landing the plane to be unbelievable.
