The Remains of the Day - Kazuo Ishiguro
A very dignified English butler reflects on his professional life in this very funny but sometimes sad book. He is so professional and so loyal, that he doesn't really have a life outside of his duties as a butler. He concludes that he's a worldly gentleman that's made a positive contribution to the world, even though he's hardly ever left the house. His dealings with other people are pretty funny.
